Half-day of Practice: "Exploring the eight worldly concerns"

  • Palpung Ireland Buddhist Centre Banteer Ireland (map)

The eight worldly concerns are four pairs of opposites that drive our attachment and aversion. Often they operate in ways that appear normal. Once we identify them at work we can stop chasing after or running away from them.

This results in  a wonderful sense of freedom .

The four pairs are

  1. Gain & loss

  2. Pleasure and pain

  3. Praise and blame

  4. Fame and insignificance/disgrace

Taking a deep dive into these worldly concerns requires us to take an  open, honest  look at how we relate to these 8 worldly concerns.
